What I've been up to

Question Mark

So now what?

Since finishing my Master's I've been focusing on three main goals.

1. Developing more games

  • I've been developing a single player puzzle narrative game using Unity and it's the first real project where I've had full creative freedom. It consists of simple puzzle solving challenges within a single room, with a deeper backstory. The ongoing name is Mindscape and I hope to release it as soon as it's ready. If you want a ... really spoiler filled breakdown check out the game design document here!
  • I have also taken a go at developing in Unreal for the first time since I believe it's a critical skill to have. Although this project is quite as far along as Mindscape, I can only say it is more ... cinematic than my usual work.
  • Participating in game jams. Outside of my two main projects I've also been creating other side projects for game jams, such as Fern The Bunny, Garbage Chute Carpenter, and the team game jam prototype Load of Trouble among others more focused on level design, such as LabRat (should be published soon). Check the level design document for it here.
  • Developing prototypes for job interviews. As part of multiple interviews I've also been creating prototypes. For some examples check out Paint Me UP! and Virtual City.

2. Writing

  • I've always been a fan of entertainment, and outside of games it's usually films and TV shows. I've also always written as a pastime, either self reflective pieces, songs, some short stories and even small stand-up sets! At the moment I'm writing a short story, which if I feel is good enough, might make a sweet short film, who knows? It's about a person with his broken down car and how the lack of care for it can have more dire consequences, not only for that person, but those around them ... a metaphor for life itself if you will.

3. Video Editing

  • As I've expressed, I've always been a fan of editing as well, and although it hasn't been my focus in years, I've been missing it. Although it isn't my current plan, if I do decide that my short story can become a good script, I might have a go at storyboarding, assisting in its direction, and editing all of it.

Tune in!

These are my goals right now, we'll see how it pans out. Hope you enjoy reading through my portfolio in the meantime! Stay tuned for any announcements regarding my upcomings projects, Mindscape will be out first and I can't wait for you to play it, just be ready for some tricky puzzles and a sad story.
